This checklist from the Evaluation Checklists Project provides a guide to those interested in conducting a preliminary, formative metaevaluation.

It is organized according to the following seven main aspects of an evaluation:

  1. Conceptualization of Evaluation
  2. Sociopolitical Factors
  3. Contractual/Legal Arrangements
  4. Technical Design
  5. Management Plan
  6. Moral/Ethical Imperatives
  7. Utility Provisions

Following a checklist like this can help an evaluator to delineate a new evaluation plan or strenghten her/his existing plan or operations.  Statements or questions are used as propmts for users to think through various aspects of evaluation plan. Seven aspects outlined above covers almost all important dimensions that evaluators need to consider for quality evaluation.
