How your organisation can support BetterEvaluation
We ask organisations to make a financial contribution to provide core funding for our knowledge platform (www.betterevaluation.org). We offer two investment levels:
Your investment contribution will support:
Keeping our knowledge platform (betterevaluation.org) online, free and open-access
Since its launch in 2012, the BetterEvaluation website has developed an unparalleled reputation for the credibility, clarity and usefulness of its guidance on evaluation. Materials from our site are used around the world in evaluation training courses and in local toolkits and guidance.
Our open access site makes the latest evaluation knowledge freely accessible to individuals, communities and organisations with limited financial resources.
Enhanced user experience
We are further developing the BetterEvaluation website interface to help those new to evaluation access key resources easily, and to support interaction between users.
We are updating and refreshing content, organised around our unique Rainbow Framework, adding:
- new evaluation methods, processes, approaches and tasks
- more guidance on developing monitoring and evaluation systems
- more examples of practice and other resources
We are further developing the decision support to help users choose the right combinations of methods and processes for their evaluation.
We plan to expand coverage in languages other than English, including translating materials and sharing examples and resources available in other languages.
In addition to the above, Tier 2 supporters can choose to commission an activity package to meet their organisation’s needs. This can include:
Access to our capacity strengthening services
BetterEvaluation takes a principles-based and systems approach to capacity strengthening. We believe in taking the time to understand the existing strengths and needs at an individual and organisational level, and using this to determine what can be built on, how best to address important gaps over time, and what to prioritise first – whether it be quality review of evaluation, plans, policies and reports, tailored blended learning opportunities, or scaffolded learning and mentoring opportunities.
Tailored online portals and advice to meet your organisation’s needs
Different organisations have different systems and processes in place when it comes to commissioning, managing and conducting evaluation. BetterEvaluation partners are able to create custom portals and advice that integrates with our open-access information, but is viewable only by logged-in members of your staff, contractors and grantees.
Expanding BetterEvaluation content to make it more useful
BetterEvaluation is committed to building evidence about how to choose and use evaluation methods and processes appropriately. Our goal is to have complete coverage of all methods and processes. Organisational supporters can help us continue this important work, and also have the opportunity to suggest priority areas for new content development.

How we work
We co-create, share and support information about doing, managing and using evaluation better.
Create – We work collaboratively with evaluation experts and organisations from around the world to document innovative practice and produce new knowledge and knowledge products about evaluation.
Share – We provide online access to a comprehensive range of monitoring and evaluation options. Our ‘Rainbow Framework’ guides the selection and use of an evaluation method and/or process to help practitioners find the best approach for their needs. We provide advice from experts and practitioners and an overview of the tasks involved in evaluation – from planning to conducting an evaluation – in multiple languages.
Support use – We undertake integrated projects to strengthen individual, organisational and/or national evaluation capacities combining blended learning, technical assistance, quality review and support for peer learning.
