Foresight evaluation is a broad concept that includes monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of specific foresight activities and using foresight as a set of tools and skills to enhance M&E practice.
Eric Barela
Dr Eric Barela is currently Senior Consultant with Raya Cooper Impact Consulting. Prior to this, Eric spent over 2 decades working as an internal evaluator in the education, nonprofit, foundation, and corporate sectors. From 2014 to 2023, Eric was Director of Measurement & Evaluation at Salesforce, where he led efforts to measure the technology company’s global social impact initiatives. He also briefly served as Co-founder of a small startup focused on impact measurement in the foundation sector. In both of these roles, Eric was able to engage in strategic foresight and sees the importance of combining effective evaluation and foresight approaches to provide a more comprehensive toolkit for both disciplines. Eric holds a Ph.D. in education, with a concentration in social research methodology, from UCLA.
