The Summer Evaluation Bootcamp (SEB) is an intensive, practice-oriented capacity development initiative aimed at strengthening evaluation knowledge, skills, and professional networks among young and emerging evaluators (YEEs). Building on the achievements and lessons learned from the first three editions of the SEB, the 4th Summer Evaluation Bootcamp responds to the growing demand for high-quality, context-sensitive, and future-oriented evaluation capacity. This demand is driven by increasingly complex development challenges, heightened expectations for evidence-informed decision-making, and the need to effectively monitor, evaluate, and learn from progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The primary target group of the 4th Summer Evaluation Bootcamp:

  • Government officials and civil servants at intermediate or mid-career levels responsible for planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning;
  • Emerging evaluators embedded within line ministries, national development agencies and sub-national government structures;
  • Professionals involved in policy design, programme management and result-based management who are transitioning into stronger evaluation roles.

Addressing the capacity needs of this group is essential for strengthening institutional evaluation systems and ensuring the effective use of evidence, including for monitoring and achieving the SDGs.

The overall objective of the 4th Bootcamp is to strengthen participants’ ability to design, conduct, interpret, and use evaluations that are methodologically sound, ethically robust, and decision-relevant, particularly in relation to SDG implementation and monitoring.

Participants will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Professional role related to planning, monitoring, evaluation, or policy analysis, preferably within government institutions;
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant professional experience;
  • Working proficiency in English;
  • Demonstrated interest in strengthening evaluation practice and evidence-informed decision-making;
  • Potential to apply and disseminate learning within the participant’s institution;
  • Consideration of diversity, gender balance, institutional representation, and country participation.

Selected participants will be expected to actively participate in all sessions and contribute to group discussions and exercises.
