The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) and the Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI) invite you to a webinar on March 24, 2026 to showcase the impact of CIF’s Evaluation Capacity Development (ECD) initiative.
Launched with GEI and the Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Lusophone Africa and Brazil (CLEAR–LAB), the initiative equipped CIF Observers with practical tools and techniques to assess programs and projects, generate evidence, and engage more effectively in CIF’s governance.
CIF Observers represent civil society, Indigenous Peoples’ organizations, and the private sector and play a critical role in CIF’s decision-making by contributing perspectives from their constituencies. Enhancing their evaluation skills enables them to provide more informed comments on CIF activities, evaluate climate interventions in their own contexts, and ultimately improve climate action.
Since 2023, CIF Observers have participated in 12 climate-focused evaluation trainings. To apply this learning, five research grants supported Observer-led evaluation studies with hands-on mentoring. These studies examine just energy transitions in Brazil and Indonesia, women’s access to climate finance in Burkina Faso, the role of private sector Observers in climate funds, and direct financing funds for Indigenous Peoples.
The webinar will share lessons, experiences, and emerging insights from this work. This is also an opportunity to hear from CIF Observers directly about the value of the ECD initiative.
