In this blog we thought we'd highlight a few of the things you can do with BetterEvaluation to make your experience with the site and community better, and more useful to you.
Finding a resource
BetterEvaluation has over 1600 resources on evaluation tasks and options, with more being added each week. These include overviews, guides, examples, tools or toolkits, and discussion papers. By using the evaluation search bar in the top right corner of your screen, you can search for exactly what you're after by typing in key words, and filtering for 'Resources' in the right hand bar. In the example to your right, you can see me search for 'Key evaluation questions' to find some guidance on writing these. I could have further refined my search to look for 'guides' or a specific language, or publication date or tag if I had a fairly good idea of what I wanted. You can also see the example I found (the CDC: Checklist to Help Focus Your Evaluation) has our new resource recommendation format. A lot of our older resources don't have this, and so if you find one that you think is particularly useful or should be made more prominent on the site, please let us know.
You can send us your resource recommendations and reviews here: Contribute content
Update your member profile
At the beginning of this year, BetterEvaluation had over 5,000 members from all over the world. Our members are evaluators, students, managers and users of evaluation, and they have a range of expertise and interests. Through BetterEvaluation, you are able to connect with these members who've made their profiles public via the member directory. As a member, you can also contribute to the content on the BetterEvaluation website, and these contributions are listed on your member profile. If you have a moment, take the time to update your member profile by logging in, and clicking your username in the top right corner, and then clicking the edit tab. You can decide how much of your information you'd like to make public, and knowing a bit more about our members' roles and interests in evaluation will help us make sure we're making the site as relevant to you as possible.
As a side note - A handy hint for using the site, when you are logged in as a BetterEvaluation member, you can comment on pages immediately, without having to wait for moderation, and use the GeneraTOR and access your saved Terms of Reference documents.
