  1. Check the results are consistent with causal contribution

One of the tasks involved in understanding causes is to check whether the observed results are consistent with a cause-effect relationship between the intervention and the observed impacts.

  3. Training on Results-Based Monitoring and Evaluation

    29th January, 2018 to 22nd February, 2018

The 5 days course covers the principles and practices for results based monitoring and evaluation. This course equips participants with skills in setting up and implementing results based monitoring and evaluation systems. The participants will benefit from the latest M&E practices including the results and participatory approaches. This course will bring learning to practice for participants to learn about the results levels and their linkage with indicators and techniques for tracking and assessing the progress of a project with the aim of achieving long term results.

  4. Outcomes Hierarchy

An outcomes hierarchy shows all the outcomes (from short-term to longer-term) required to bring about the ultimate goal of an intervention.  Unlike results chains, it does not show the activities linked to these outcomes.

  5. Logic Model Workbook

Prepared by the Innovation Network, this workbook offers a “do-it-yourself guide” to the development and use of a range of logic models, including step-by-step description of the process required for their creation.

  6. Making Adaptation Count: Concepts and Options for Climate Change Adaptation...

This paper offers a monitoring and evaluation framework of climate change interventions. It addresses the steps and processes that need to be considered in order to effectively conduct evaluations of Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) interventions

  7. Modus Operandi

    Evaluation Option

Interventions create distinctive/characteristic patterns of effects. Scriven describes the modus operandi as a set of footprints:

‘Each cause has a set of footprints, a short one if it’s a proximate cause, a long one if it’s a remote cause, but in general the modus operandi is a sequence of intermediate or concurrent events or a set of conditions, or a chain of events, that has to be present when the cause is effective.’

  8. Sustained and Emerging Impacts Evaluation (SEIE)

  9. ImpactMap

ImpactMap is a tool which creates logic models using a fixed format. It also produces action plans and documents performance measurement plans.

The software is accessed through a monthly or annual licence fee which varies according to the number of maps and users.

  10. Developing Outcomes Models: DoView and the Shower Curtain

This short article shows the development of a logic model using two techniques at the same time - a plastic shower curtain and DoView software.
