Who is this for?

This course is intended for professionals in the field of policy research and who wish to assess and enhance their MEL capacities related to policy influence.

This include researchers, communicators, managers, and MEL specialists. You may or may not be working in a think tank.

The course is ideal for those working in the early stages of an MEL plan development and who are interested in designing a strategy that can be implemented and that may lead to tangible evidence of impact (or not) and learning.

During the course, participants will be able to use the new concepts and tools learned to develop a draft MEL plan based on the organisational capacity of their think tanks.

Outline

The Long Course on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning for Policy Influence consists of:

  • A Background Note on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) for policy influence;
  • An online forum to share comments, experiences and questions with the trainers and other participants;
  • An online library with curated resources on methods for MEL of policy influence;
  • Four webinars facilitated by Dena Lomofsky and Vanesa Weyrauch;
  • The delivery of three practical exercises to apply the lessons learned to your organisation and which will receive personalised feedback from the trainers.

Through these activities, we will share reflections and cutting edge conceptual knowledge, along with specific MEL methodologies and tools. We will also promote peer learning by supporting the exchange of experiences and practices among the participating think tanks.
