Values for co-production between young people and organisations

In this resource, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation's Involving Young People Collective shares 10 values for co-production between young people and organisations.

For each of the values in this flip book, a short summary is provided and followed by relevant questions to consider. Below are the 10 values and an example of one question to consider for each value:

  • Nothing about us without us
    • Example question: How do you create space for young people to feed into discussion and decision-making processes?
  • Accessibility
    • Example question: How do you assess the accessibility needs of the people who take part in your programmes?
  • Transparency and trust
    • Example question: How do you show young people that they are valued and not tokenisms?
  • Communicating expectations and accountability
    • Example question: How much autonomy do young people have in deciding their level of commitment; can they take on more or less depending on their capacity?
  • Leadership, training and opportunities
    • Example question: How do you allow your young people to be leaders within the organisation?
  • Culture of learning
    • Example question: How do you collaborate with young people in your projects and aims?
  • Practices around reflection
    • Example question: How do you put feedback and reflections into practice?
  • Measuring and tracking progress
