Objective(s): share evidence and discuss what has worked in development, what has not, and why. AfDB Evaluation Week brings together evaluators, government policy/decision-makers, bilateral and multilateral development partners, research and academic institutions, civil society, the private sector, and the staff of the AfDB.

Scope: an international knowledge event organized biennially with a global audience by the Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) function of the AfDB and dedicated to knowledge- and experience-sharing events on monitoring and evaluation (M&E) topics.

Objective(s): strengthen participants’ technical skills within monitoring and evaluation, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, and project management; help participants further advance their career in the development field; provide networking opportunities to forge connections with like-minded peers.

Objective(s): train participants on how to use the concepts and methods of Evaluation of projects in the field of development cooperation (DC) and humanitarian aid (HA). More specifically, participants will learn how to write and operationalize Terms of References, conduct Evaluations, and submit reports.

Objective(s): improve participants' understanding of key evaluation approaches and current and emerging thinking in evaluation, enabling them to reflect on how topical issues such as transformation and
indigenization of evaluation can be applied in their practice; and advance the Made-in-Africa Evaluation conversation.

Objective(s): explore transformation in Evaluation from its historical context in relation to the Global South and how it may relate to equity and social justice, gather local and international speakers in making a contribution to the transformation discourse form a Global South perspective.

Objective(s): train evaluation managers in Latin America and enable them to visualize alternative formats for managing and carrying out quality evaluations.

Objective(s): help participants build necessary perspectives and skills on why and how to conduct gender transformative evaluations, introduces participants to the concepts of both gender and evaluation and enable them to bring in a critical gender transformative lens when conducting evaluations.

Objective(s): provide a safe space for participants to freely exchange experiences, lessons, and ideas on the individual topics

Objective(s): provide mentees with an opportunity to acquire knowledge, skills, and capacity for a successful evaluation career; formulate an actionable professional development plan with clear steps towards developing those skills; identify and overcome challenges, barriers, fears of developing a career in evaluation; build stronger professional networks towards the advancement of the profession; build linkages with internships and job opportunities in the field; and increase the commitment of evaluation experts who contribute to the evaluation capacity development of YEE.

Objective(s): provide high-quality and cost-effective opportunities for YEEs to improve their skills in evaluation.
