BetterEvaluation at the Evaluation Conclave in Kathmandu this week
We're excited to be joining evaluators from across the world, and particularly South Asia, for the Evaluation Conclave this week. The theme of the conference is "Evaluation for development" - and sessions will look at ways that of going from evaluation of development to evaluation that actively contributes to development through its findings and processes.

Outcome Mapping Workshops

Outcome mapping is a methodology for planning, monitoring and evaluating development initiatives in order to bring about sustainable social change.

Evaluation Capacity Development

This session will discuss different approaches to ECD, going beyond training people to conduct evaluations to other ways of supporting individuals, organisations and communities to plan, manage, conduct and use evaluations to improve development, including sharing their learnings through the BetterEvaluation website and community.

Design Clinic

This session will look at particular challenges in evaluation - clarifying the purpose of an evaluation, gathering evidence about sensitive issues such as child marriage, and causal inference - using examples of practice from South Asia and internationally. Participants will also be introduced to the options for these tasks currently available on the BetterEvaluation site and to ways of sharing their strategies and examples.

This session will look particularly at going beyond boxes of inputs, outputs and outcomes to articulate change theories and action theories for development, and how to use these to improve planning, implementation and evaluation.
