Annette L Gardner
Dr Annette L Gardner, PhD, MPH, is the Principal at ALGardner Consulting. Formerly an Associate Professor at the University of California, San Francisco, Annette has 30 years of evaluation experience as a practitioner, researcher, and educator. She has designed and directed national, state, and local evaluations focusing on insurance coverage expansions for low-income Americans, the adoption of health information technology, and expanded advocacy capacity. She and Claire Brindis, DrPH co-authored the definitive book, Advocacy and Policy Change Evaluation: Theory and Practice (Stanford University Press, 2017).
A trained futurist, she is a leader in advancing foresight evaluation practice. In 2019, she co-edited a special issue of the World Futures Review on evaluation of foresight with Peter Bishop. She is the Lead of the Association of Professional Futurists Foresight Evaluation Initiative which focuses on building foresight practitioner evaluation capacity. Additionally, she and her evaluation colleagues are building evaluator foresight capacity and have conducted foresight methods workshops at national evaluation conferences. She is one of the Co-Editors of the recent themed issue of New Directions for Evaluation on foresight evaluation.
