This workshop is designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills to use Artifical Intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT, Claude.ai and Perplexity.ai for evaluation and research purposes. More specifcially, to use AI tools for the analysis of qualitative data from documents, interviews, observations and focus groups.

Overview of curriculum

The course covers:

  • Introduction to the different AI tools
  • Overview of AI's transformation of research and evaluation methodologies
  • Real-world examples where AI has been instrumental in research and evaluation
  • Ethics in the use of AI
  • Data protection and privacy
  • "Hands on" exercises on how data can be input, processed, and analyzed.

Target Audience

Researchers, development and M&E professionals who are at varying stages of their career. The assumption is that most people would never have used AI or have heard of the tools, so the workshop will be pitched at an introductory level. Persons are however being encouraged to make a free account with ChatGPT and Claude.ai before the workshop so they can fully participate in the exercises on the day of the event.
