Professional development courses can be a useful way to develop people’s knowledge and skills in conducting and/or managing an evaluation. These are often run by evaluation associations, training organisations, or experts in a particular aspect of M&E engaged by an organisation.
Individuals can sign up for existing courses, or organisations can develop and deliver or commission customised courses which prepare people to work within their particular organisational processes and structures.
Courses can be delivered face-to-face or virtually through webinars, self-study or online learning.
Ideally, courses provide opportunities for participants to link what they are learning to their existing knowledge, to discuss how to apply what they are learning to their situation, and to practise the skills they are learning.

VOPEs and evaluation societies often hold short courses or training events. These are often held before or after conferences.
