The GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Science's Data Archive focuses primarily on the processing and archiving of German and international comparative surveys in the fields of social and political science.
The data is made accessible to public and researchers, and must meet methodological and technical standards.
The archive was divided into two new departments in 2021:
- The department of Data Services for the Social Sciences (DSS) - This department provides data management services, access to archived data and training.
- The department of Survey Data Curation (SDC) - This "department processes and prepares social science research data across a diverse range of data types to support research, especially in comparative perspectives across space and time."
